The Story

Emerging from tight green sepals, three velvety pointed tongues swell in the light. Their form takes shape, subtle curves, veins like arrows, mouth open. Fingers laced with pollen scream from her opening, eager and restless. Rain drips off her epicuticular wax, beading, running wet. She is ready. She is Trillium grandiflorum.
